Paint peeling off 2017 Tacoma

I have not noticed this on my silver 2017 Tacoma SR5. Maybe just an issue with white paint or just a few trucks?
Seems white is their latest paint problem. Before that it was that lighter blue. They sold some blue tacoma trucks here around 2017-18 that peeled like those old chevys. I spoke with a employee at a local toyota dealer back then who told me not to get the older blue...lots of paint warranty issues. At the time i bought my truck in feb 2020 voo-doo blue was said to be ok.

I have the same peeling problem in the same spot around the window. 2017 super white also

I was washing my super white 2017 Tacoma today and the hose spray nozzle was removing the paint in the same location! Couldn't believe my eyes but I'm glad it's not just me. Will bring to dealer to document my case also. Thanks for your post.

Anyone else paint chipping off on there 2017 white Tacoma? Mine is chipping on both rear doors.Toyota said it’s a known problem and they are trying to get it approved to get it fixed..... could take up to a YEAR to get approvedView attachment 28407! View attachment 28405View attachment 28406

I have the same problem in the same spot around the back passenger window. 2017 super white also. Have an appt at the dealer for something else next week and will be bringing this up. We’ll see how it goes!

Dealer said he’s unaware of a problem with the paint and spoke to Toyota who said they haven’t heard of any issues either. Sounds like BS to me. Going to reach out directly to Toyota and start raising it up the chain. Has anyone with this problem got it resolved? If so, do you have a number that I can contact? Appreciate any help!

Well dealers here are sure aware of it. Try another dealer.....yours is either lying or incompetent.

Had the identical issue with my 2017 white Taco. Brought it to my dealer and it took them 3 months to finally agree to fix it. They said that was not an “approved” issue by Toyota which I don’t understand since it is a well known problem with that paint. Even the dealer told me that. In the end the dealer took care of it free of charge, probably because it was such a small area. You just have to keep on their case and eventually they give in. In my case that was 3 months of them stalling me and me not giving up on hounding them. Eventually I gave them a bad review on one of those automated feedback requests following service on my other car. I think they listen to those surveys. Good luck.

I don't know if it's true or not but I heard years ago never buy a light colored vehicle. It was said the lighter the color the less paint used, the darker the color the more paint. Don't know if it's true or just an old wrenches take.

I have a 2019 White Tacoma and it is peeling in the exact same spot as shown in the picture. My local dealer called corporate to report it and get it repaired but corporate denied it was a "known" issue and will not fix under warranty. If anyone else was able to get their paint corrected, please respond to this post and let me know what you did. Thanks.

This sounds similar to the cavalry blue paint issue they have. If it's within warranty, they fix it. Otherwise they tell you your sol.
At least I had an honest dealer when buying my 2020 as they flat out told me they had issues with those colors.
