Post your truck off-road

Dug up some old vid, here's what you don't want to happen , this guy (Gary) was trying to help push a truck that was hung up & somehow dislocated his finger, I mean DDAAAYYUUMMM !! that had to hurt...

My virgin, unblemished, completely stock 2000 TRD on a recognized OHV single black diamond rated trail, what the hell was I thinking ??!!

The group of guys barking out directions meant well but I silently blew them off & found my own line down Bronco Peak...

DSC06659.jpg I don't know where to post this, there's no suspension thread (maybe it's time)...

But found this pic of a local tw guy holding the stock 2nd gen spindle after we installed new Camburg 4" spindles, they are massive looking at them compared to stock...

Yeah I consider crawl control in the same category as ABS, pretty useless off road (on road too IMO)

Looks like someone running for their lives haha...

I think I just needed to be more patient with it. As I watched the videos, it more about letting it do it’s thing than brute force like I was attempting. It’s been haunting me ever since and really need to drive back and do another run.

Problem with the new technology (crawl control, A-trac,etc;) I have is , it doesn't teach the driver anything, what
I mean is before all the bells & whistles, crawl control was good eye/hand/foot coordination up,down, thru, rough terrain, know when to give a little (or a lot sometimes) gas, power braking could also be considered crawl control , they all sound good but to me it's just one more ****ing thing to break or go batshit electronically...

It did go batshit. Next time I’m going to let crazy be crazy instead of slapping it into submission.

I agree that can definitely be an issue. We get to the point where we’re dependent if we rely on technology too much. It happens before we even realize it. From crawl control to TSS-P. But they are great technologies that can be a huge benefit.
The first 4x4 vehicles I learned to drive in had: no ABS, definitely no traction control, lock in hubs, and were carbureted (some with manual choke.. remember that?!) and I’m in my 30’s. Things have changed a lot fast.
I miss the old 4x4’s, like my 84 full size Bronco XLT. But any of us that has a newer vehicle and would get in one of those old beasts with our current driving habits would probably be in trouble on slick roads or off road until we got readjusted.

I hate ABS, for me it holds no value or benefit at all , my brakes are fine, truck doesn't pull when braking (L & R) leaves 4 locked skids (if need be) So the last thing I need is an ABS pump sucking the life out of my brake pedal so "it" can take over, no thanks, at least out here in socal I think they've caused more wrecks than prevented, & off road ?? It really sucks even harder, Don't you love it when you hit the pedal & it goes to the floor & it sounds like a cow farting under the hood haha..

Driving habits (current or otherwise) are just that, good ones & bad ones. The bad ones are going to be an issue in any vehicle...
