I wonder that myself, I have a 2004 2.7L with no distributor but when I put on a new head I included gears for the Distributor, Now I do not have a distributor will need to find one? Why because the ECM operates the timing of the engine based on the the sensors telling it to increase speed ect. but the old method one could have valcuume advance or mechanical weighted advance. you could put a timing light on the #1 cylinder and check the timing.
