Rear diff whine

So my 2017 SR 4x4 4 cylinder 5 speed is not on the Toyota recall list for the diff whine????
Either I am crazy or I have it. At 60 mph with the cruise on you can hear it.
My truck has 8k miles....
I was so impressed how quiet it was when new.....not any more.
I go in for my 10k service soon....will the dealer help me out????

Does the rear diff have oil in it? That’s a good starting point. Either way, the simplest solution is take it in for a test drive.

New parts fail too. Humans make mistakes as well. If your diff is making a concerning noise, you should take it to the dealership so a technician can test drive and verify what the noise is. There’s a good chance that they’ve heard it before.

Good point^^^
You got a warranty use it. (After you check your rear diff to see if it’s leaking or low on fluid).
 
I guess I was not clear....my bad.
There is a TSB or recall? On the rear diff of the TRD off road and maybe sport?
I was just wondering if any SR owners has had the issue?
I am going to the dealer in 2k miles.

The rear diff recall was on just about all of them except the off roads and lots of them ended up with leaking rears.
Almost a quarter million were recalled.
 
I went to the dealer today for my 10k service. They had 4 techs look at the diff.....
Final answer from Toyota …..that is just the way it is.

They like to say that when they can’t or don’t want to fix it. Funny thing is there are lots of people who don’t have the issue and only a few who do. Seems like something is wrong.
 
Yea I told the service rep that was not a very good answer lol...…
They did document it, so it on record if that is worth anything.
I was in the military for 13 years and I have very bad hearing, so if I can hear it. I am going to change the diff fluid to a synthetic and see if that helps.
