Running Boards or Nerf Bars

I have a 2016 TRD Sport Metallic Grey and the short people I live with have trouble getting in the truck. I’m not sure if I want Running Boards or Nerf Bars.
Any thoughts ?

I got a set of hybrid steps. I like them a lot.

I like the hybrid steps rather than the running boards. Most running boards on tacomas look like they are mounted too high and too close to the body.

I like how they're lower like nerf bars, but provide protection like sliders/rails.

Mine came with the dealer installed preditor steps which look like the cheap knockoffs of those APS steps. Those APS's look much better.

I agree that the running boards are too close to the body.
I was looking at the Havoc HS2 Black Hoop Steps.
What do you guys think about them ?

Sliders rather than either one if you intend to off road at all.

Those look really nice ,I've had both types in the winter the tubes can get slush built up and freeze .but I like the tubes vs running boards .running boards are better for Suv's .I tipped the tubes with washes and was able to drop them and inch .for short we people to get in and out .lol nice tires too!
