Salute to All Veterans

Just a shout out to the vets. Not the ones like me who heard “thanks for your service”, but for those Vietnam era vets I remember seeing on the news when I was in high school that got spit on, called baby killers, and were ostracized. Those are the real heroes. To do what you are called onto do because it is the call of your country and your honor...to come home to violence for doing what is right for your country and conscience.

Maybe I can’t say the words...but you guys in your lowest esteem made me want to achieve my highest.

Did that make sense? Thank you for sacrificing to be spit on so I could be driven to avenge you.

I hope I did right by you.
 
From the militias and Continental Army to those who serve now. All sacrifice. Some serve in peacetime, some enlisted or were drafted in the heat of war. We never know what we’ll face but it’s the initial sacrifice that matters.
I joined in June of 2001 and was in basic training when 9/11 happened. From peacetime to war in the blink of an eye.
Thank you all veterans for your service and sacrifice.
 
In the sleep lab, I’m retired USAF, the technical director and CEO are military brats, CFO is a gold star widow, and 3 techs are vets.

We see a LOT of VA patients. I teach the techs to tell the patients about our personal connections with the military and that when we say “thank you for your service”, it means more than just “have a nice day”.

Because it does and we do.

March 13th is National K9 Veterans Day.

A day that recognizes all the K9 units who have served since World War II for their unwavering loyalty and bravery in service.

We can observe this day by honoring all the working dogs and military units at home and abroad who sacrifice life and limb every day for our protection.

There are many non-profit organizations who provide assistance and support for retiring and retired K9 dogs all over the world.

You too can show your support for these heroes by donating or volunteering, or just by spreading the word to bring more awareness to their heartfelt cause.

Adopting a retired K9 is another way to help. In duty, these warriors are loved and appreciated. Unfortunately, many are left without homes after their service ends. You or someone you know could give them the hope of a forever home. Sergeant Stubby would thank you! [emoji173]
