Spark plugs

I have a 2010 Tacoma with a 4.0 and I have about 149,000 miles. I have never changed the spark plugs. The truck is running good. I seen a thing where it says you should change the plugs about every 30,000 miles. So do you think I should change the plugs now or wait till I have a miss.

I hope you aren’t the original owner. If you don’t know when it’s been done last you can always pull some and check them. See how they look.

I’m shocked it’s not missing and the fact that its running ok is amazing.

What you’re not telling us is your wife took it in for its 90 and 120k mile services

Additives? Jet fuel? Special gas station you always go to? How they are still clean enough to run is blowing my mind. 150k miles on a set of Plugs with no issues is a lot. I want pictures of them when you pull them out.

iridium plugs have a service life of about 100,000 miles. I expect that the OEM plugs in your 4.0 are Denso iridium plugs, so that or NGK iridium plugs should be considered as replacements. I have changes several sets of iridium plugs, at the recommended 100,000 to 105,000 mile mark....they all looked to have no noticeable wear.

They are standard copper plugs from the factory. The poopercharger kit includes iridium plugs because you have to remove the blower to get at the driver side plugs.

I don’t think toyota uses the iridium plugs in the Tacoma for OEM. They are usually platinum which last about 30k or so. I could be wrong on this one.

may not, but that is what my neighbor's Tacoma 4.0 had when I changed his. They were in my wife's 03 Camry, and my 08 Tundra as well. Maybe we were just lucky.
