Spark plugs

may not, but that is what my neighbor's Tacoma 4.0 had when I changed his. They were in my wife's 03 Camry, and my 08 Tundra as well. Maybe we were just lucky.
The Tundra and Camry have been using them forever. My 2007 Tundra had them. Changed them at 115k miles and they still looked ok. Your neighbors Tacoma had them replaced by someone at some point.

I would wait ! I hear you can a quarter of a million miles , with No worries !
But depending on how cheap you are Bosch Platinum 6731's will get you through !

My fuel mileage is about the same as before but it seems to have more power. I think I’m going to try and get another 150,000 miles on it. So maybe another 5-6 years. I maybe able to just pay cash for the next one

May be one plug per year for 6 years... Which might spread out the cost of inflation for the same time period. Why knows....Ty Tacoma World

Don't wait for a miss

this ain't no baseball...

May be fishing...
I have a 2010 Tacoma with a 4.0 and I have about 149,000 miles. I have never changed the spark plugs. The truck is running good. I seen a thing where it says you should change the plugs about every 30,000 miles. So do you think I should change the plugs now or wait till I have a miss.

When I had my 06 Tundra I went to the dealership with one plug to be sure I was buying the right ones the parts manager asked do they all look like that? I said yes and he said put them back they look fine the truck had 107,000 miles. My brother has it now with over 400,000 now I am sure he changed them since then.
iridium plugs have a service life of about 100,000 miles. I expect that the OEM plugs in your 4.0 are Denso iridium plugs, so that or NGK iridium plugs should be considered as replacements. I have changes several sets of iridium plugs, at the recommended 100,000 to 105,000 mile mark....they all looked to have no noticeable wear.
