Anyone ever have to replace your steering shaft ? My ujoint is getting sticky and it's hard to steer. Was wondering if I'd be able to do it myself or do I need to bring it to a shop? Or possibly temp fix for a while.
I had to have the steering shaft replaced in my 2001 at 170000 miles. Sounds like the same issue; the U- joint was just not so Universal anymore. When I bought the truck Carfax history said there was moderate front end damage but I never could see anything in the engine compartment or front clip that was at all out of place so not sure if the old injury had anything to do with the the ultimate failure of the steering shaft.
