Strange hole

There is a plug in the hole, isn't there? I wonder if it's an aftermarket rustproofing??

Did you buy used or new? I’ve never seen a hole there. Looks like someone drilled it for some purpose.

I see metal on the edge of that hole. Maybe running speaker wires for a surround sound system. LOL!

Maybe someone thought it would help equalize the cab pressure when the door was shut?
Is it on both sides?

You should paint it and plug it before it rusts no matter what it is.

A bit of touch up paint or anti rust treatment followed by a hole plug will cure that fast.
