Taco 2017 off road tire question.

Original tires on the taco 2016 off road are Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar 265/70R16. If I want to keep the same overall height of the tire (no lift) and put 18" wheels on the tuck, what tire size do I need?
 
Every added inch of wheel equal 1 step down in aspect ratio. So 265/70R16 would be 265/65R17, then 265/60R18. Also look at diameter of tire as 1 more number to match. 30.5 inches outside diameter is our number.
 
How about 265/55/20?

Wheeling as in off road rock driving?
My taco is a mall crawler/pavement princess. Never understood the need to destroy a vehicle on boulders.
About rims, is all for looks and feel. Smaller rubber height (bigger rims on the same tire size) makes the truck to feel more rigid since there is no rubber/tire to flex in turns.
Looking to get something like 265/55/20 with -15 offset rims. Want to stick the tires out as much as possible without lifting the truck and have nice rims. Another reason for this is I want to install the BIG BRAKE (bigger brake disk with holes and red calipers) when I will need to replace the brakes...2-3 years from now?
 
I just found it funny that you bought the offroad is all. Offroad use doesn't just consist of rock crawling. Also remember that small sidewall tires will affect load capacity. Just something to keep in mind.

As far as brakes go, the Tacoma has the best stopping distance of it's class.

will work without rubbing or further issues then?

I have that exact wheel. You cant get a 265/65R17 mounted on a 17x7 wheel as its only 7 inches wide and that size tire requires 7.5inch. Butttttt. You can put 265/70R17 on a 7 inch wide wheel. And your wheel diameter will be 1 inch more than stock. Small speedometer issue with 2-3mph diff at 75mph. So 72 on speedo means 75mph actual due to larger diameter tire than stock. I have stock suspension. No rubbing issues. 20161226_140747.jpg
 
Funny how 4wheel parts leaves out wheel width requirements for that tire size. But i know its 7.5inch. I went through this drill already. Lol

Is the TRD sprung the same as an SR5, do they sit the same height with the same clearances?

As far as the speedo being off, I have a friend that went hog wild with a 4Runner and he used something like this to correct the speedo reading after he increased wheel size http://www.hypertech-inc.com/products-results.aspx
If I went bigger on the tire OD I'd probably give it a shot.

If i had put 33inch tires on, yea. Fix with electronic gadget. But im not concerned with 3mph at 75. At 40 its 1mph off. Meh. Ha
 
Installed 265/65R18 bfg ko2 on my 2013 Ltd two years ago. Great traction, low noise and no
rubbing at all.
 
Just got my stock size 265 70 16 for my Toyota 2 weeks ago. Wish I would have bought em sooner..Great look. I get the same M.P.G. No noise. I Lov throwing the dirt now
