Hello, i am a new member to the page , However I am very familiar with the knowledge on here, and now I'm desperate. my 2009 Tacoma prerunner trd sport just recently out of the blue, wont start. today the truck has power in the truck, lights ,radio, dash all light up until attempting to turn over. tested battery at home and at AutoZone, ran diagnostics and it is code c1440. i go out to truck today to attempt start again power wont even think if turning over, dies out and loses power. i will jiggle the negative battery terminal and it regains power. but it wont jumpstart. i am lost, lol. and desperate right now its my only vehicle, and my means of life. self employed and its my work truck as well. any info or insight would be great if available. thank you all for past and present help.....

Code C1440 - Toyota ABS steering angle sensor unusual bank angle detected.
Is the ABS and or check engine light on?

I have experienced the same problem before with my Tacoma truck. I hired a mechanic for the inspection of it and he said that the problem was on the battery of the truck. Way2old has better suggestion that you need to check the condition of your batteries, this might be the main problem.

This thread resonated with me. I've been having (previously) intermittent starting problems. It got to be almost every time I needed to start the truck. (2006 Tacoma Prerunner w/ automatic) It seemed like I could get past that by shifting between Park and the lowest gear several times. I thought there was some kind of shift position interlock that kept the truck from starting, though the shift indicator on the dash showed the correct gear selection. Today I did a search, wound up on this forum and this post jumped out at me. I've got a ScanGage II so I headed out to see if there were any codes stored. I did try starting a couple times, including running the shift lever back and forth a couple times. No cranking. I worked through the menus on the ScanGage II and it scanned for codes, none reported. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome, so I twisted the key and the truck cranked and started. I shut it off and tried again. It cranked and started again. It seems like scanning for codes "fixed" the problem. Anyone ever hear of this?
Is there anything else to check? I'm a little concerned that this will leave me on the road one day.
