Undercoating

I had Krown applied last October. It dropped a lot for a while, which was fine since I was renting my place. Probably wouldn't have been so happy if it were my OWN driveway. However, they warn you about the drips when it is applied.
It's only been a few months, but I like how easy the undercarriage cleans up when I run it through the car wash. I just get a little cocky when I see folks with their doors rusting off, and I know mine won't.
I didn't use an undercoating because I've heard that it can chip, get moisture under the coating, and rust the metal without you ever seeing until there's a major problem.
 
Drummond American Outlast is what I use it's Bullet proof. And will keep your Yoda rust free , nobody likes a rusty Yoda !

I used some cosmoline brushon an '11 taco driveshaft to keep it from rusting, looks like it was just starting the failed coating way back by the 3rd member.
It should resist rotational whip off where the FF and WW don't stick on well
 
I didn't spray my drive shaft with cosmoline. Didn't want to take any chances it'd affect the balance if you had any runs before it setup and dried.

perhaps more of a concern is the delaminating peecoating they used on frame that chunks off from who knows what and why but it happens and those coating chips get stuck in the drainways and cover any drain holes?

the Gen2 has an interesting setup (on a single cab as reference pt)
i noticed water drainage channel coming out of the boxed section under the cab with a lapped area that water goes underneath it somewhere inside there

i am at a loss & what to do currently on my '97 driveshaft, all the coating is off so its gotten a bit roachy
no clue if the joints still hold grease, it flung grease all over the muffler the last go at it
awhile back i priced new spicer shafts for a cost of 700$-900$ just for parts! that may or may not have included a new center carrier bearing
went thru this whole ordeal of diagnosing driveshaft when i had a nasty intermittent banging rattle rattle going on somewhere... it was not the driveshaft :confused:

Probably can't hurt to spray the driveshaft with fluid flim if that bad. It'll probably wash off anyways if you have weather like we do.

That did not stick, just made it greasy!
It's not the wash off as much as the whipping off from high rotation
 
Its likely similar to fluid flim and others if their only good for that amount of time before they wash off and need reapplying. Been there, tired of rust inhibitors that don't last. Right now i'm sold on cosmoline. Been over 2 years and still holding up like it was just done. Thats what i call a win.
 
I’ve used fluid film and wool wax I the past, had Toyota Service advisor tell me that if I keep taking care of my frame the way I have, they won’t ever be able to replace it. Basically, he wanted me to let it rot so they could get the work.

Just looked in the wheel wells the other day, wiped off some dust to find an oily metal behind it. It was done in the spring and Inplan to have it done again in the fall, then maybe once a year after.
 
i looked but did not touch it on a truck that recently had it done
looks like a hardened shell that drys so no dirt collected, not sure if its black or clear either!
