With all this talk about generational differences. Let's take a moment to see how this forum really feels.
Which generation Tacoma do you like the best?

I have the first one I ever owned and it's a 2010 and I pretty much don't have anything to complain about but I wish the radio screen didn't stop working when it gets hot. I also wish it had rear disc brakes. That's the only thing I have a problem with. I am looking at a 2017-2018 now
 
2nd. But I do like the looks of the 3rd gen. Before my 2009 Tacoma I always owned Chevy's but got tired of working on them every weekend lol my father in law has a 96 taco it's a good truck but it's kinda small IMO
 
This is a tough one. I actually like each of the generations of Tacomas.
Simplicity and durability of gen ones, Drivetrain and body style of gen twos, upgrades and comfort of gen threes.
I love my 2017 gen three but I have to say my overall vote would go to the gen two.

Go after market for the stereo. It's a major upgrade to be able to play DVDs too . And much better sound even with the crappy stock speakers
 
My pick is a 1st gen. mostly because of my offroad style (steep & narrow, these are just so nimble thru rocks & other obstacles)

Although I DO love the room & creature features of the 2nd/3rd gens..
 
It seems from alot of the topics I see the new 3rd gens have alot of issues... 2nd gen wasn't terrible. I think they did it right the 1st time.

Yes rear wheel disc. And better fuel efficiency out of the box , my 2.7 L burns Alot petrol !
With a four banger I wish I could have a two less cylinders, with OPEC gouging us for 298 per gallon !

2nd gen/3rd gen.... just remember it started with a 1st gen...


Although a 4.0 with an SC option in a 1st gen would be nice...Let's build one..haha not that hard I'd say
