What is the best 2-3" Lift Kit and Biggest Tires I Can Fit on my 18 Tacoma?

Not all brands of tires are consistent ride quality through size ranges...What I mean is, I've had some 285/75r16's load range E tires that ride better than others. My Cooper STT PRO 285's ride better than the Goodyear 265/75r16 load range C's I took off. Some of that is tire design. Also playing a factor is the psi I had to run in each. Duratracs took 40 psi to get a stable ride. The STT PRO's sit just fine with 32psi. I also went to an 8" wide rim on the STT PRO's as opposed to a 7" with the Duratracs. Not sure how much that effected ride, but the truck HANDLES better at highway speeds with the wider rim. (Had the STT PRO's on 7" for about 10K miles)

Questions for you all. I have new a stock 2018 Tacoma SR5 4wd. I do quite a bit of off roading, but mine is not that strenuous, lots of logging roads, nat forest roads and will venture out on to some mild jeep trails in search of fishing and camping. Going slow and not out to tear my rig up. It is also my daily driver. I have a jeep background and have had real good luck with BTG's T/A KO2's. I kind of like the Falkins as mention above and have considered GY duratracs as well. 265 X 75 X 16 series E range. I also need to tow an RV about 3500 lbs.

I am not looking for a lift kit, but I am curious if there is any advantage of going with 17" wheels over the stockers 16"? I would appreciate any thoughts on 17 vs 16 and the tires I was looking at. PS - Is my gas mileage going to take a big hit?

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new Tacoma. 265/75/16 is not much bigger than stock the E rated will add some weight and you may see 2-3mpg decrease. If you where going wider and an E you would see a much bigger MPG change.
I would rather have more tire than rim. The only difference between the 16 and 17 is the side wall vs rim. There is not any real advantage or disadvantages between those sizes. If you where going 16 to 19 there would be a lot smaller side wall and for off roading you don’t want that.
I would stick with the stock 16’s.
