i honestly thot at first that truck was a transplant to CA from the NE or MW
 
anybody got sum good piccies of the rott?

saw a Gen2 tailgate recently with rottout on the bottom, but it coulda been in some altercation with damage IDK

Gen2 suspension crossmember under cover...

Suggest removing the part. Strip the paint, remove the rust. Follow with a 2k automotive grade prime and paint. Don't waste your time with a rattle can. Squirting cosmoline or FF or any type of rust prevent snot will not stop the corrosion. You can fix it or apply a cover up.

If you've treated your chassis with a rust inhibitor, thats your answer.
Appears salt has been hard at work on that engine shield.

i have done NO SUCH THING on my taco up front
it has 14 years of age compared to this roached '11 my relative has always taken into the Toyota dealer where they bot new
 
the rusty buildup on the front of my rig underneath is minimal after 22 years of the saltLife compared to less than 10 years on this Gen2 garbage parts and coatings up front
what is the Fckn deal with that
 
Maybe you use you truck where you don't encounter a lot of salty wet roads 4-6 months out of the year like we do here in New England.
 
Could be better made shielding to deflect the salty roadspray on gen1 vs gen2

But the coating on gen2 is horseshiitt

There is a metal bar under with Zero rust onit
All else is caked in crust
 
the front diff mounts
completely crusted over with this horseshiitt
 
Suggestion.

To avoid having the truck coated in horse manure......quit driving in the dung heap.
 
Funny mentioning horse s**t. My trucks rear quarter panels were coated with it after driving to my shop, and back the other day.....and I didn't see any horses, not even on these secondary back roads. Stuff was nasty as it had dried on.
 
Perhaps you didn't recognize the brown road apples. Then ran over a few freshly fallen apples.

Think of it as a theft deterrent. :p:D:D
