How often do you park beside another Tacoma….

I just went to the local Home Depot here in Balch Springs and spotted 3 Tacos before I made it into the store! There were 2 1st gens parked across the aisle from one another and a 3rd gen that's been rode hard and put up wet that's owned by a tree service parked by the contractor door! Sorry for some reason they didn't seem to download in the order in which I posted them! Ugh!

I love those 1st gens Taco Man.

So today I stopped by Kroger for some ice cream and pulled up to these two SilverMetlic Tacos. The gen2 TRD Sport access cab is super crisp and clean for its age and the gen3 SR5 from Nevada is just as gorgeous with its chrome running boards and bumper. The matching color bed cover is a plus.

Great looking trucks TexasBigBlue!

I had to go to the Lewisville Home Depot today to use a gift card my son got me awhile back. Pulled in the parking lot and noticed this gen3 SR access cab with steel wheels. Nothing fancy here, just a solid little work truck/daily driver.

So this morning in the parking lot for Walmart employees I noticed this poor ole girl, a gen2 SR5 PreRunner. Faded paint, the grill is destroyed, and lots of dings and dents. At least it's still getting this person to work every day.

You know, I see quite a few older Tacomas with faded worn out paint. Always wondered if maybe their paint jobs don’t hold up.

The clear coat on the top of the driver side door on my 1st gen is coming off!
I believe TacoJoel mentioned this a few threads back. Something about a new technology called "ceramic coat" he mentioned but I am just to dam old to scroll back thru all these threads. Have you heard about it ? And how much coz I'm interested.

No sorry TexasBigBlue I have not heard about it! Sounds like it's worth looking into though! I think I do remember TacoJoel mentioning something about that though! Maybe he can chime in on this!

I know the dealer offered an add on that was some type of ceramicoat but I did not get it. I do not know much about what it is or does.

I know little about the process myself, but opted for it after seeing how my tundra wound up with its paint. The Boston dealer I bought my truck from, sent it out to a detail franchise shop nearby where they spend a day prepping the truck, then the next day they apply layers of this liquid ceramic coating on the truck, till it looks like a hard thin layer of glass when dry. I was told never to wash, or wax the truck again. It's pretty amazing, I get lots of bird poop on the truck for some reason birds don't like its color. If you hose it, or when it rains, the poop just slides right off. Same with any type sap, or dirt. I received a lifetime warranty on the exterior finish if any damage is related to this stuff. So far been 3 1/2 years, and it's still perfect.

Wow I am definitely interested in this. Thanks.

Damn that sounds incredible!

I have to caution one....first it's not cheap, and second, imo, it really comes down to the shops employees doing the job. I feel I was lucky to have that shop do it. There's probably a number of detail places that do this stuff. You just gotta hope you get a job as well done as I did.

I was reviewing my ceramic glass coating on my dealers bill of sale. All its says, is.. prepped truck for mulitple layers of pro 9h ceramic paint protection. Lifetime warranty includes interior, and exterior finish against chemical, thermo, bird droppings, insects, sap, and harmful sun's rays.
I guess the buzz word is pro 9h whatever that is.
