Just purchased a cert. used 2017 Tacoma with a 3.5l V-6. I noticed that the manual calls for 10k oil changes. However, If you tow, do city driving, etc., the manual suggest 5k.
I also noticed that the previous owner changed the oil every 5k. I will be putting 25k plus miles a year on this truck and towing my bass boat 400 miles north to Ontario a few times every year. Just to be safe, I'll change my oil with a quality 0w-20 and OEM oil filter every 5-6k when I rotate my tires. I have been changing oil and working on cars since I was a youngster... so, I'm comfortable servicing my own cars/trucks. If your not, take your truck to a dealer or a local mechanic that does quality work at a fair price. I would not let Walmart, iffy-lube or any other place touch my Tacoma.
If you have a set of ramps and basic mechanics tools, you can do the oil change yourself. Purchase a special cap wrench and watch a few Youtube videos. Tons of information on "how-to" change 3 gen oil and filters.
