I changed oil to a 0W30
In short it's better, but advantages occur under conditions that don't occur 12 months a year
The north country zero and below is common wile 5 w 30 works well any way .
0W30 starts motor even better & even feels smoother ( if it's even possible )
So for cold starting 5W30 is fine ....... 0W30 is king .
I found with MPG
My Tacoma gets great MPG on the HWY I can pull from 27 to 28.8 depending on how relaxed I drive
If I go 55 to 60 I will get 28.8 fully warmed up 0w30 or 5w30 same MPG
Short trip cold weather 0 W 30 blows 5w30 out the door
during the summer I'll put in $20 & drive all over (many miles)
at one point I say heck I drove alot for $20 ,that is during the summer
As the winter cool rolled in I was noticing Gas MPG was BAD like $10 per day I had a hunch
and the hunch was short trip cold so I excepted it .( thats winter I figured ) .
Now with 0W30 I put in $20 and getting that same MPG as summer I'm at day 3 still have plenty of fuel
0W30 is fantastic for short trip cold weather use .
Most likely this will be the oil I use year round
unless I notice an issue during summer
So till further notice Mobil one 0 w 30 is my oil
