brake drum gasket?

Don't you have the threaded holes in your drums that used with a bolt that size to pop them loose?
Awww no, did I put that stuff in the spots??
My head hurt still from that brakleen that I cleaned it all out
This gen2 drums were seized bad on the left hand side of the hub, when the bolt broke it finally it popped a gooder :(

Hmmmm.......

I wonder if I should open the brakes to check condition. The truck is at 123,xxx miles, no record of pad/shoe change. I did replace the brake fluid in 2020 shortly after purchase with 105,xxx miles. It stops sure and straight without screeching from wear indicators. But, those indicators are not 100% reliable.

The truck lived on a farm before me. The underside carried pounds of gravel, mud, dust, soybeans, corn, hay, grass......all sorts of schmutz. So, I don't think the truck had anything beyond basic oil changes and recall work. I spent hours flushing the underside.

For what its worth i had a early gen1 tundra that used the same brake shoes as the tacoma at the time. I don't think much has changed. I had nearly 200k miles on that tundra before changing those rear shoes, and they were still plenty good to last awhile but i replaced them anyways. I sold the truck when it had nearly 300k miles. Those shoes just don't wear out. Its the rotors, and pads that do.

25 cans should do it well

1 new case + 5 to make an even 17 + the 8 left from that last case
lol.

good greif......how much dust do you have????

there was 65k miles of dust in the '11 Taco
their truck is mostly used for stop and go city driving so lots of rear braking i suppose
every spring was coated in thick dust

I seem to go thru brakleen like this California guy at the 13 half minute

Just as a thought......Try a stiff brush coupled with a shop vac to collect the loose stuff. Then use the brake clean.

It'll be better for your health, the environment, your wallet and you won't risk damaging other parts (ie paint)

A case of that stuff can't be easy on the wallet.

Off-topic...
The new neighbors rolled up with a big U-Haul and black Silverado with Jasper county plates... I wonder if they broke down on their way west to WY/CO

Back on topic I thought that product was a good deal at 4$ per can plus 5$ Napa knowhow coupin
It's regularly 6.49 now, up 20c from a few months ago lol

I couldn't believe it when i bought two cans of that stuff from a kmart some years back. They wanted my name and address. Said it was for environmental purposes.
